Build-A-Flower: Cattleya Cards

Hello, friends!

Norine here today with a few more Build-A-Flower: Cattleya cards to share with you! You'll remember that we recently released the Build-A-Flower stamp and die set of the Cattleya Orchid. I thought it was such a beautiful set that I wanted to play with it again for today's cards. The card that I made for the release was an outline stamp that I watercolored, leaving the layer building stamps for another day, and that day is today!

You've heard me say it before and I'll continue to repeat it. I love the ease and precision of the Altenew layering stamps! I began by stamping one flower image with its outline on a white cardstock using the Coffee Break ink set. I die cut the stamped image and set it aside while I worked on the card front.

Next, I stamped the outline images repeatedly onto a piece of burlap patterned paper, then stamped the sentiment from the Story of Us Stamp Set onto black cardstock with white heat-embossing. I layered the edge die-cut black cardstock on top of the tan patterned paper with the die-cut stamped flower on top of it all and finished off the card with some liquid enamel dots.

For the second card, I stamped the outline stamp again onto a white cardstock and filled in the layers with Buttercream from the Summer Afternoon ink set and Sunkissed, Orange Cream, and Autumn Blaze from the Warm & Cozy ink set. The Tiger Lily is the official flower of Saskatchewan, the province in Canada where I grew up, so these colors shades felt very familiar to me!

I realize it was unnecessary (when has that ever stopped a die-hard card maker?) but I die cut the stamped orchid and die cut and inlaid the image into the outlines of the dotted background paper. Yes, I could have just laid it on top of the patterned paper and been done with it, but where's the fun in that? So I saved all the little dotted die-cut centers and glued them into their openings after the background patterned paper adhered to the outside edges of the flower. The sentiment for this card comes from the Build-A-Flower: Gardenia Stamp Set.

The Build-A-Flower: Cattleya die is automatically included in this stamp set!

And if you purchase the stamp and die set + ink bundle you will save 5%!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
