Ombre Metallic Watercolor Background for Cardmaking VIDEO Tutorial | Creative Coloring with Erum

Hi everyone! Erum here with a pretty card to share featuring the Ruffled Flowers Stamp Set and the new Metallic Watercolor Pan Set by Altenew.

I started by stamping the image from the Ruffled Flowers Stamp Set twice on regular cardstock twice in Obsidian Pigment Ink. I used a graphite pencil to apply some shading closer to the flower center and then blended it out with a blending stump. Next, to add a bit more depth, I used a black Prismacolor pencil, keeping a light hand and blended this with a blending stump too.

Once the images were shaded, I used the coordinating dies to die cut them and then I set them aside.

Next, I used blue and a mint green shade (Aquamarine and Topaz) from the Metallic Watercolor Pan Set to make my background. I applied the darker of the blues to the middle and then the lighter one at the top and bottom. After this, I blended the colors well together so they transitioned into each other beautifully to create an ombre background.

To make the background darker, I heat set the first layer of color wash and then added a second layer too. You can do this as many times as you want to, I did this only twice and that was enough.

Once the panel was dry, I added black paint splatters from the 36 Pan Watercolor Set. Next, I arranged the die-cut flowers by adhering them with foam tape. I placed a strip of cardstock over the two images and to finish off the card, I adhered the die-cut from Simply Hello Die on it.
