Layering Up with Paper, Ink, Stamps and Dies

Hello Altenew friends, Norine here back with you today with a card that might make you think of Clean Out the Fridge Night/Supper! It uses a little bit of everything, but not a lot of anything! Some stenciling, ink blending, die-cutting, water brush marker paint, vellum, alcohol inks, Yupo and vellum papers, and a sentiment strip! I will sometimes create a card like this rather than sort and clean off my desk after other projects. Although, in this instance, I did create all of the individual components specifically for this card. But if I'm tallying products and techniques combined on one card, I think I may have broken all my previous records for that category!

Let's get started!

I began by stenciling the stripes onto a folded card base. I wanted to use the Beach Towel Stripes Stencil but one of the problems of living in two different places is that quite often the supply you want is in the place where you are not. So, instead, I laid down varying sized strips of washi tape and ink blended over the center of the card front with Frayed Leaf ink.

Next, I stamped some blooms and leaves from the beautiful Flower Garden Stamp Set and cut them out. I painted the leaves with varying shades of green and blue Watercolor Brush Markers and a water brush but left the blooms uncolored.

Next, I die cut a leafy branch from white cardstock using a Leaf Clusters die. I splashed a few green shades of alcohol-based Artist Marker Refills onto Yupo paper and die cut a leaf cluster from that using a die from the Rose Flurries 3D Die Set. And while I was messing with the die-cutting machine, I also cut some vellum paper using the recently release Circle Quilt Cover Die, then tore the edges to create a somewhat raggedy shape.

Finally, I stamped a sentiment from the Sentiment Strips Stamp Set, with Obsidian Pigment Ink onto some gray cardstock and heat-embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I fussy cut and shifted all the individual layers until I was pleased with the composition, and adhered the whole to the striped card front. I added some clear sequins to finish the card.
