Hi there, everyone; it's Jaycee! My crafty friends and I are welcoming Carnations to the Paint-A-Flower family for the 22nd of the month! To celebrate this beautiful outline stamp release, we are showing our projects using the stamp set. Every stop along this blog hop is another chance at a giveaway. For my card project, I drew inspiration from fabric…on someone's scrubs while at work at the hospital. I saw a color palette similar on a coffee mug as well. I decided a no-outline look would suit the beautifully illustrated folds and creases on the carnation petals.
To make this card, I stamped the cluster image with a water-soluble ink onto a panel of Altenew Watercolor Paper. Then, I cut a fourth panel from the 9X12 inch paper pad. I made sure to properly stretch my watercolor paper panel prior to stamping to ensure my card would lay completely flat once dry.
I used only two colors from the Altenew 36 Watercolor Pan Set: Rubellite and Espresso. Working from light to dark, I painted the petals of the flowers first using Espresso. I left plenty of white areas on the petals so that the overall effect of the flower appeared ‘white.' Then, I made simple gradients on the stems using Rubellite, referencing the sample images on the product packaging as needed to define the flower stems.
Once the image was dry, I added splatters using my favorite Altenew Jet Black Ink Spray diluted with a bit of water to give a fine dreamy aura around the flowers. I stamped the ‘Good Luck' sentiment using Altenew Obsidian Pigment Ink and finished the card by mounting it onto an A2 notecard base.
