Stamp Focus: Wonderful Wycinanki

Svitlana here! As you can tell from the title of this blog post today I will be focusing on the new Wonderful Wycinanki Stamp Set.
If you like folk art designs you will love this set. I'm presenting three different ideas of how this set can be used.
FAUX CROSS STITCH
Even though Wycinanki is a kind of paper art, the design reminds me of Ukrainian cross-stitch designs so for my first card, I decided to go with a faux cross-stitch look.
I achieved this by stamping the design onto a white panel which was first pierced using the Cross Stitch Canvas Die. The key here is to first pierce a cardstock and then stamp over it so you won't get ink in the pierced dots, which creates this effect as if the design was cross-stitched.
The following Crisp Dye Inks were used here for stamping: Warm Sunshine, Buttercream, Shadow Creek, Grass Field, Vineyard, Heart Beat, Coral Bliss, and Jet Black.
EASY BLACK BACKGROUND
Another classic solution for this design would be having it on a black background. Wycinanki is made by cutting out the base shape out of white or black paper and then the colored paper is layered on top. With stamping it's harder to do as dye inks are not visible on black cardstock.
You can use masking to achieve this effect or clear embossing resist effect. I cheated a bit for my card, choosing the easiest (in my opinion) way to get this look.
I stamped all elements onto white cardstock and then die-cut them using the matching dies.
Next, I took a black marker and colored all white borders of the die-cuts with it. I also colored the die-cut edges so no white is seen if you look from the side. After that I adhered all elements onto a black card base.
I also stamped a sentiment in black onto a white strip and adhered it onto the card. Followed by adding several clear confetti.
The following Crisp Dye Inks were used for stamping: Teal Cave, Dew Drops, Velvet, Ultramarine, Iceberg.
STAMPING ON NON-WHITE CARDSTOCK
A black background is not the only non-white one you can find in such folk art. It can be any color really. But not for every color you can have a perfect match of colored cardstock and a marker to color in white borders (as I did on the previous card).
Another option can be stamping onto a non-white cardstock. Any cardstock won't work here. It's better to choose something that is not very dark so your stamping is visible. Also, you should remember that dye inks are translucent so the cardstock color will affect your stamping.
For example, on my card, the orange elements were stamped with red inks. They look orange as this ink “mixed” with the yellow background.
For stamping here I used these Crisp Dye Inks: Crimson and Dark Chocolate.
